/TDS Full Form
The full form of TDS is Tax Deducted at Source.
It is basically the government's way of collecting taxes right at the source. When your salary hits your bank account, or you withdraw a large FD interest, the payer chops off a percentage and sends it straight to the income tax department. You will see this deducted amount clearly listed on your Form 16 or bank statement. You can usually claim it back when you file your yearly ITR, but only if your total income falls below the taxable limit.
