Cash Market

What is a Cash Market?

Also known as the spot market, this is where you buy the actual shares of a company. You pay the full price upfront, and the shares get delivered to your demat account. It is the exact opposite of the derivatives market, where you just trade contracts based on price guesses. If you buy 100 shares of Reliance in the cash segment, you actually own that piece of the company. Settlements now happen quickly, usually within one working day, so there is no long waiting period to receive your shares.
