ISIN Full Form

What is the Full Form of ISIN?

The full form of ISIN is International Securities Identification Number.

Every listed stock, bond, or mutual fund in India is assigned a unique 12-digit alphanumeric code. This specific number acts as the permanent identification for that financial asset on the stock exchange. The first two letters represent the country code 'IN', while depositories such as NSDL and CDSL handle the rest of the numbering to ensure no two securities ever share the same code. You rarely need to memorize it, but it shows up on your contract notes and mutual fund statements when you buy or sell.

If you are verifying an International Securities Identification Number on your portfolio statement, make sure it matches the correct asset class to avoid any mix-ups.
