/Long Position
It is the most basic way to invest in the stock market. You buy shares because you believe the company will do well and the price will eventually rise. If you buy 50 shares of Reliance today and hold them in your demat account, you are "going long." You only make a profit when you eventually sell those shares for more than you paid. It is the exact opposite of short-selling, where you bet against the company.
