/G-Sec Full Form
The full form of G-Sec is Government Security.
You are literally lending money to the Indian government when you buy these. Because the government backs them, the risk of default is basically zero. They come with fixed interest rates and mature over long periods, like 5, 10, or even 30 years. Large mutual funds and insurance companies hold large amounts of G-Secs to protect their portfolios from stock market volatility.
